The results are in from VOM! If you remember LBCC raised over $1,300 for VOM's Christmas Care Package (CCP) for the Christians in Northern Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and Morocco). In VOM's March Newsletter, they proudly announced through the gifts given to them from the 10,683 donors; they were able to send 3,000 Pastor CCP's and 10,100 Children CCP's!
How great is God?! VOM thanks everyone who helped out with the CCP's and to keep your brothers and sisters in your prayers. They are keeping you in theirs.
And lastly, thank you everyone who participated in giving at LBCC!

Let's Begin...A New Year
Ok so I'm a little late....Happy New Year and Happy Valentines Day (or Happy Single's Awareness Day; however you want to say it)! I know I haven't been writing lately because I've been so wound up in other things that I've completely forgot.
However, a lot has happened over the past six months. The kids from LBCC raised over $100 to make 100 parachutes for Colombia (Hostile). LBCC held a prayer service on the National Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church on November 13th, along with making more of the 100 parachutes for Colombia. During the month of December, LBCC had a goal of $1,100 towards care packages for Northern Africa (most of the countries being Restricted), and they raised over $1,300!
There is still a lot going on in the Persecuted Church. The question being, what will you do for the Persecuted Church? and who will you pray for?
There are 54 countries in the world that have persecution in the church, 40 of those are Restricted (meaning the government is against Christianity), and 14 being Hostile (meaning friends, family, and neighbors are against it).
Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) sent out a poll of where there distribution was being sent to. 8% is being sent to Hindu, Buddhist, and others. 20% is being sent to the Communist World. 72% is being sent to the Muslim World.

Tuesday April 20, 1999
It was a normal Tuesday afternoon when the news of Columbine High School was shot at by two teenage boys. I was 5 years of age when it became a hot topic at WOCC's "Kids Church" (3-5 Grade). I wasn't suppose to be in that class at that time, but I wanted to stay with my parents (who, at that time, were teaching the class).
The kids were asked numerous questions but one stood out for me. The teacher asked, "If you were in Cassie's spot and was asked 'Do you believe in God?' with a gun at your head what would you do?" That didn't strike my attention as much as the answer from a 3rd grade girl. "I would lie," she said. "And when they left I would turn around and ask God for forgiveness."
That striked enough attention to me to start asking questions to my parents. "What are they talking about?", "Who died?", "Why did they kill her?", and so on.
My parents told me the truth, that a girl named Cassie was shot in a school shooting in Colorado for Jesus. I didn't put much thought into it at the time (but of course, I was 5).
Now that think about it, a few years ago I would have been like Peter, one of Jesus's Disciples, and denied Christ. Now, I would do anything for him! At CIY one of my friends told me that he didn't understand why I was so into the persecuted church until he saw a video at CIY that they showed about the persecuted church.
So here is my question. What would you do if someone asked you "Do you believe in God" and has a gun pointed at your head? Would you be like Peter and deny Him? Or would you be like Cassie and say "Yes"?

Let's Begin...To Be FREE!
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High. -Psalm 7:17
When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. -Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776
Yesterday our nation celebrated our 235th year of FREEDOM. Now we look at our freedom and think, oh we have the freedom of speech, the freedom of press, the freedom to do whatever we want to do...except breaking the Law. Yes that is very much true. But lets look at the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights and see what it says:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Read that first line again:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.
In other words, Congress can't tell us (the church) how to worship God! Isn't that awesome?! But what about the other countries that don't have that kind of freedom that we have?
There's not a whole lot we can do but pray. Pray for the leaders of those governments that won't accept or allow Christianity in their country. Pray for the leaders who DO allow Christianity in their country but their people don't want it. Also pray for the police officers who are trying to protect the Christians from harms way.
We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately. -Benjamin Franklin, right before he signed the Declaration of Independence with Fifty-Five other men on July 4, 1776
In other words, We must stand together because if we don't, surely, we will fall.
Little at a time I see this country slipping into forgetting what our Founding Fathers have done for us in order to be free from England. Yes they argued, as do we all, but in the end we remember how glorious it is to free. Much like being a Christian, we remember the struggles we had in our lives before we accepted him as our Lord and Saviour; and then it turned into this glorious thing that we want to cherish forever and ever.
Like the United States has a Constitution; us Christians have a Constitution as well, it's called the Bible. We do our best to follow it, but when we start following it we find it harder and harder to follow it because of our own priorities and selfish-ambitions that leads us astray from God. Then a war starts in our heart and we battle it day in and day out and we try to fight it on our own, thinking that we don't need our God's help. But then we realize that the only way of winning this battle is by asking for the help of our God, and we are embarrassed when we do. With the help of others and God, we start Winning our battles; Winning our victories. And people start seeing what is going on and they wonder why are they being like this? What is wrong with them? So we start telling them about Christ and what he has done for us and they too accept him and more start accepting him and together we fight this battle, and together we win for God is on our side like Joshua in the Bible, when we ask for his help. Christians all around the world are fighting this battle and we are over here in our big comfy couch not doing anything about it. They are crying out for help! So lets help them for crying out loud!!!
Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. -Psalm 5:2
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. -Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. -Ephesians 6:10-18
This war isn't over, not yet anyways. Just like John Hancock was the first to put his name on the Declaration, he knew that THIS was the beginning of something bigger. How is God going to use you for Something Bigger?

Let's Begin...A Challenge
For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. - Philippians 1:29-30 NIV
Dear Friends and Family,
To some I have confessed that i have been a fake for most of my life. Not living for the right reasons. Living for only myself, and myself only.
Last year when I went to Obsession, I made a promise with my sister the year before that I would go; and the same with CIY. But to tell you the truth, even with out the promise, about 55-60% of me would've gone. I still would've went. But if a certain person was still in my life, I would've broken the promise and wouldn't have gone.
In February/March of this year, I started to change. Still to this day I'm changing, but it hasn't been easy.
When I opened the card at CIY (NO CATHEDRALS: Study, Share the information, and Serve the PERSECUTED CHURCH), I wasn't expecting a life change as big as this. But as I read and hear the stories; they make me wonder "What if that was me?" Then I look at the duck tape that is on my Bible, and the promise i made to ENDURE the pain...no matter what.
Here I am, and I give everything to Christ Jesus. My best friend. He is, and will be, calling me to things people may not like. In fact you may hate me, but I don't care; for Jesus changed my life and he wants to change others as well. I love you all, but my love for Jesus is greater. Greater then anything in this world.
You may not understand me right now, but maybe one day you will know what I mean and feel. But believe me, this is the real deal!
He is the way, the truth, and the life says the Apostle John. And He is. He is my way, truth, and life, and I give it all to Him and Him alone.
When (and if) I die, I didn't die because of old age, or because someone disagreed about my faith. I died because my job here on this sin-filled-world has expired. I have fulfilled the work of Jesus Christ.
But my work is now beginning, and I will not stop at anything for the work, and love, of my friend Jesus Christ the Son of the Living GOD, for there is NO END.

I wrote this in November of 2010. I went on a weekend trip called "Obsession". At the retreat, we were encouraged to write our "Last Letter". Now the last letter is NOT a suicide letter! All it is is a letter to friends, family, and close ones saying that you gave your life up to Christ and going His way; even if it means dying for Him.
Many of Christ's followers have written a "Last Letter" before they were martyred. One of the followers was the Apostle Paul. Now Paul wasn't one of Christ's disciples while he was here on the earth. In fact he martyred the first Christian, Stephen a Disciple of Jesus.
I try to imagine what it would be like to be Saul (later to be Paul). Standing there, allowing the people of the town to throw stones at him! As they are throwing their stones at a young man, who is filled with the Holy Spirit, Saul is standing with the towns folk's cloaks at his FEET! I don't know how he could even bare watch them this young man. But he did.
In Acts 9 it tells us more about Saul and how he came to know Christ. Read this:
Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
Paul traveled all around the Roman Empire spreading the word of God to everyone, even in prison. In fact that is where he wrote most his "Last Letters" in. If you want to read them, they are called the Prison Epistles: Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, and Philemon.
Now the title of this blog is "Let's Begin...A Challenge". Here is the Challenge, I want you to write your own "Last Letter". But before you do, I want you to pray about it. Ask God how he wants to use you and what He wants you to write. You may share this letter to whomever you wish, but this is between you and God. What is He saying to you? What does He want you to do?

The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”
“Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
Pretty crazy huh? But you're probably wondering how Saul became Paul. Well that doesn't happened till chapter 13. Take a look:
The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper. They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, “You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun.”
Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.

Let's Begin...To CELEBRATE! Or NOT?
Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prioner, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. - Hebrews 13:3 NIV
Easter has always been the same for me each year. Bunnies, candy, flowers, news outfits, the whole nine yards. But this Easter was a bit hectic for me. Working with kids and celebrating that Jesus has Risen for the Dead takes a lot out of you.
But it doesn't stop there. My dear friend, Sara, who has a heart for the persecuted church, like me, came up to me during the service with some news. An underground church was arrested for holding a "banned" Easter Service. My heart sank with pain and sorrow.
These men, women, and children risk their lives everyday just so they could learn about Christ. Sometimes I’m happy and glad that I live here in
The only thing we can do right now is pray for them. Pray for their safety and their freedom for their religious faith.

Let's Begin...To UNDERSTAND.
Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Since I was a little girl I never really thought about the persecuted church. I thought everyone went to church and believed in God just like me and my family. The older I got, the more I realized the truth of religion. I was always up for a challenge and I sure did get one. In June of 2010, I received a Kingdom Worker's Card at CIY. The card said to study about the persecuted church and to share the information, and find a way to help the persecuted.
I was up for the challenge. As word went around of my challenge, people were backing me up and supporting me. The more I studied through scripture, reading stories, and searching the internet; I find myself loving, and caring, more and more everyday. Wanting to help them in every way possible!
I organized a day of prayer on the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church at the youth service, and I organized a fundraiser for care packages for the child and missionaries in India during the Christmas season. We raised over $300 and was 1 of 8,286 donors in the US. God rocks!
Now I am working on another possible fundraiser for Bibles and Christian Literature in China. But today, my heart is saddened for the Christians in China who could not celebrate and worship on Easter Sunday (more info in my next coming blog).
